Change Management: Accelerating Change and Transitions (ACT)

TWP and Change
TWP have long been focused on generating behavioural and cultural change in corporations via challenging and impactful training, coaching and people-based consulting solutions. TWP now offers a systematic and people-based change management methodology that has been proven on a global basis, with clients such as: Tesco, DHL, Unilever and Sony Ericsson

TWP and Change Management
TWP have partnered with leading global change management consultant - The Greenwich Group - to offer a proven change methodology named "ACT". TWP have worked collaboratively with Greenwich Group and their President, Beverly Davids (ex-GE) on many occasions to bring a holistic solution to the leadership and change management requirements of many major corporations.

TWP and ACT
ACT is based on a program (Change Acceleration Process - CAP) that was introduced in 1992 to General Electric, after much research into how successful change is made in organization and personal settings. CAP, still used by GE today, has been adapted by many organizations as a model for successful realization of change efforts.

TWP Certification
TWP has now acquired the sole licence to bring the ACT technology to Asia and has seven trainers who have been officially licensed to deliver this proprietary material. TWP can deliver the material directly in English, Mandarin and Bahasa as well as via translation.

What is ACT ?
The ACT technology is an approach to change that focuses on the people. Whatever change your business is undergoing, it will require people to make it happen and it will take people to sustain it in the business: It is people who are critical to the success of the initiative: The people leading the change through the business and the people whose jobs will alter as a result of the change.

The ACT technology separates the whole process of change into discrete segments and equips the team or the person leading the change with specific tools that will ensure a smooth transition process.

The ACT technology provides tools that support the team at every step of the process, helping to clarify questions such as:

  • What is "the change" and what is it not ?
  • Why do we need this change ?
  • How do we best communicate this change ?
  • Who are my key stakeholders ?
  • Who are the supporters of this change and how do I leverage their support ?
  • Who are the blockers of this change and how do I deal with them ?
  • How do I create and then sustain the momentum of this initiative ?

For What Kind of Change Projects is ACT Relevant ?
ACT has proven relevant for a wide range of initiatives and with a wide range of departments, including:

  • Culture Change Programs (often HR-led and regarding values and behaviour shifts)
  • Mergers and Acquisitions
  • Cost Reduction Programs (often in a factory environment)
  • Innovation Projects (eg New Product Development)
  • IT Projects (eg SAP implementation)

ACT can be especially effective when people from more than one department or location are charged with making the change initiative work.

Who Would Benefit from working with the ACT process and how does it work in practice ?
There are many ways that a company can work with the ACT process and TWP will work with you to decide the most appropriate method for your situation. Some of the most popular methods include:

1. An ACT Workshop as part of a Leadership Development Intervention.
TWP are highly skilled at providing impactful leadership development solutions. The basic ACT workshop (2 days) provides an excellent 'skills-based' platform to supplement the personal development 'attitude-based' leadership work.

2. A Stand-Alone ACT Workshop (2-4 days)
The workshop can either be run with

  • individual team leaders who are charged with leading change projects in the business
  • one team or a department that has a major change initiative to carry out
  • a number of smaller teams who are working on individual change projects

3. ACT Consultancy
The TWP consultant can work with a team on a number of occasions throughout the life of their change project, using the appropriate sections and tools of the ACT technology as appropriate.

4. Customisation of ACT Methodology
Some clients wish to customize and/or incorporate ACT into their own Change Management methodology. This can prove to be highly effective where a company has already developed a proprietary Change Management process with which managers are already familiar. In these situations, TWP will work closely with you to ensure that the resulting process is not only seamless but of the highest quality.
