"Leaders are people who take a stand - who say, "If it's to be, it's up to me."
TWP Leadership Development Programs are experiential in nature and have their foundation in self-awareness. Rather than give lots of detailed leadership theories and philosophies, the TWP trainer will work with the participants to uncover their current underlying thoughts, attitudes and beliefs which are, consciously or not, driving their current actions.
As the participants begin to uncover these beliefs, they can begin to assess whether or not these beliefs are effective in a leadership context. As the process continues, participants begin to not only see more possibility and choices than before but also begin to make choices and take action based on the needs of the current situation rather than being dictated to by the subconscious attitudes and beliefs that they had formed in relation to past events.
We believe leaders are made, not born and that leadership is not a matter of theories or techniques but rather that leaders are people who have a dream, have the courage to pursue that dream against all odds, and the passion to enrol others to commit to the fulfillment of that dream. Throughout our programs, we challenge people to get in touch with their own vision, connect with their personal power, be willing to take responsible risk and be 100 percent responsible for their results. It is highly personal work, and for most participants, an experience of breakthrough to a new level of authenticity and effectiveness.
TWP Leadership Development programs can take many forms, and last for different periods of time. Our “Gold-Standard” programs are modular in form and often last for 3 months or more. These programs often include the following modules:
1. Pre-Work – via a TWP Community-based web site where participants have the opportunity to share their thoughts in response to various leadership tasks that they are assigned before they come together.
2. Self-Awareness – Residential module where the TWP trainer works with participants so that they raise their level of self-awareness. This is the catalyst for change and leadership development. This module finishes up with the setting of some clear and specific goals that the participant will accomplish over a set period of time. This module may last anywhere from 3-6 days.
3. Workplace + Coaching – Leadership Development does not happen solely in a training room. At TWP we firmly believe in the efficacy of follow-up coaching back in the workplace in order to sustain any changes or new actions that the participants wish to take upon completion of the self-awareness module. Typically this module may last for 2-3 months
4. Reinforcement and Further Development – After the completion of the workplace-based module, participants often come back together to share learning, receive coaching and learn further leadership skills such as coaching, change management, creative thinking and visioning and values creation.
